If you get a message that .NET 1.1 is necessary and if you're using .NET 3.5 you don't need to downgrade/de-install .NET 3.5 of course:
.NET 1.1, and 3.5 run side-by-side. Some newer applications may use 2.0 or even 3.5 others still use 1.1! This is to keep compatible with older installations and not forcing users to install stuff they don't need ;-)
